Level access shower
Easy access enclosures
MBK over the years have become experienced and knowledgeable in the supply and installation of specialist and special needs bathrooms.
We have constructed many wet room floors for the less able and together with Impey we are able to supply and install specialist shower enclosures suitable for assisted bathing.
We have designed and installed bathrooms with the less able in mind and have experience in complete wet room situations and replacing baths with shower enclosures as our clients needs change. We have also been able to provide a variety of aids to help mobility in bathrooms and its now quite normal to supply comfort height pans for clients in many different situations.
With many showers now having easy to control valves and having anti-scald devices there are many options available and the supply of bathroom equipment for those who are less able is no longer considered to be commercial and the suites available are no different from the standard suites.
As our population ages it has become necessary for our clients to adapt to suit their changing requirements. We are all finding that as we get older our bodies don’t operate at full capacity and things that were possible two years ago are proving more difficult to do and in some cases impossible. Our quality of life is at risk and so we have to take steps to improve that.
At MBK we have noticed over the years the growing number of clients who find that getting in and out of a bath is becoming more and more difficult and in some cases dramatic changes in circumstances have meant that this may be no longer possible. No one wants to have to move due to a change in circumstances and there are many products on the market that can be supplied to help with these situations. Even the installation of a few grab rails or a comfort height toilet pan can help a client regain that confidence and mean that showering or bathing can then be a more confident process.
As our clients have experienced these changes we have been supplying and installing 1700 x 700 shower trays to replace existing baths and either re-tiling the area required or with increasing popularity installing shower wall panels which are easy to keep clean and easy to install, this second option means that you don’t have to re-tile the whole bathroom. With the advent of many different sizes of wet room panels and swivel panels the shower areas can be created with easy access for the client and coupled with a change of flooring usually non slip vinyl sheet the bathroom takes on a whole new look. In some instances we do not use the whole bathing area and install offset quadrant shower enclosures and install shower seats and grab rails for extra safety.
I personally have experience of these circumstances with having both my parents and parents in law alive I have had to adapt their bathing situations to help them as their situations change and it has been with this personal experience that I have seen what works and more often what is not acceptable even if the thoughts are well intentioned.
